Building in Summit County
Summit County runs one of the strictest building departments in Utah, and that is not a complaint. It is the reason the houses up here hold up. It does mean that a schedule drawn without accounting for review time is a work of fiction, and that the relationships you have with the people reviewing your drawings are worth real money to the person paying for the build.
We have those relationships, and they were earned the slow way - by submitting complete sets, not arguing about them.
Beyond the department, this is mountain building. Snow load and roof design drive more of the structure than most people expect. Frost depth and site drainage decide where the money goes before anyone picks a finish. Access and staging on a steep lot can add weeks to a schedule that looked fine on paper.
None of that is a reason not to build here. It is a reason to know what you are signing before you sign it.
